AFP, Munich :
German prosecutors demanded five and a half years in jail Thursday for Bayern Munich boss Uli Hoeness for evading millions in taxes.
Prosecutor Achim von Engel sought the prison sentence on the day a verdict was expected in a trial that has captivated football-obsessed Germany this week.
Hoeness, 62, has admitted to evading 27.2 million euros ($37.6 million) in taxes by hiding his wealth in Swiss bank accounts while obsessively “gambling” on stocks and currencies.
