The International Crimes Tribunal-1 was taken by surprise at the absence of the members of the prosecution during the scheduled hearing on Sunday on a contempt of court matter as submitted by the prosecution over an alleged scandalous report published in the vernacular daily Kaler Kantha.
The tribunal termed unfortunate and undesirable such nonappearance of the prosecution.
The tribunal was supposed to pass order on Sunday after a hearing on the contempt of court plea as proposed by the prosecution.
As the matter came up for hearing, the three-member tribunal with its chairman Justice M Enayetur Rahim and the two other members Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Anwarul Haque found the prosecution side absent.
Before rising for the day, the tribunal passed an order saying, “On behalf of the prosecution no one appeared. This nonappearance is unfortunate and undesirable.”
The tribunal further said: “For the interest of justice, we’re inclined to adjourn the matter till October 30.”
