Prosecution of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) is currently scrutinizing probe report filed by its investigation agency against Jamaat. The report was handed over to the prosecution on March 27 after investigation for more than seven months. “Right now, we are going through the probe report and the documents handed over to us by the investigation agency, we will prepare the formal charge after that,” said prosecutor Rana Dasgupta.
His colleague Dr Tureen Afroz said after the trial of Hitler’s Nazi party in Nuremberg tribunal, it is the second instance where an organization is facing the trial for its crimes against humanity.
Abdul Hannan Khan, chief investigator of the ICT probe body, alongside the 373-page probe report, documents of thousands of pages were handed over to the prosecution to make the formal charge.
“Documents include more than two hundred books, magazines, and research papers. In our report, we have pleaded to ban Jamaat and all of its associates,” he added.
