Proposed budget to help implement Vision 2021

Treasury bench members on Monday described the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2016-17 as timely, pragmatic and pro-people, which would be of immense beneficial for the nation by way of implementing the Vision 2021 by further cutting poverty down to a significant level.
Taking part in a general discussion on the proposed budget for 2016-17, they said the government would be able to transform Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2021 and developed country by 2041 by implementing the country’s first ever-biggest budget.
In course of their discussion, they stressed the need for proper implementation of the budget and urged the mass people to work jointly in this regard. If all of you put in your best efforts from your respective positions, the new budget will surely add many more new feathers in the cap of successes being achieved by the present government, they said.
The lawmakers also hoped that the government would be able to implement the budget’s all development programmes to achieve the targeted 7.2 percent growth in the GDP next year.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith on June 2 rolled out a Taka 340,605 crore national budget for 2016-2017 FY setting the GDP growth target at 7.2 percent and delineating a set of programmes to transform the country into a role model of modern and welfare state by 2041.
Hailing the proposed budget, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Narayan Chandra Chanda said the government after carefully examining all existing factors has made head-wise allocations to achieve the targeted goals in all sectors of the national economy.
He urged the government to provide due facilities for further boosting up the livestock sector to ensure food security in the country. “For a sustainable socio-economic development, there is no alternative to further improving this important sector,” he said.
Deputy Minister for Environment and Forests Abdullah Al Islam Jakob said the proposed budget would help protect environment and ecology from degradation for the country’s sustainable ‘green growth’.
“We can bring about a drastic change in the country’s environment as we have increased our forest area up to 33.5 percent from 9 percent,” he said. Participating in the discussions, Gazi M M Amjad Hossain Milan said there has been a satisfactory progress in the construction of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge overcoming various barriers, depicting the strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He mentioned that the country achieved tremendous success in different sectors including education, economic, technology, and agricultures under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
