‘Proper microcredit management stressed’

Proper management in microcredit and savings activities of smaller community based organisations (CBOs) could accelerate uplift to alleviate poverty bringing self-reliance to rural people and empowering the women.
Speakers said this at the concluding ceremony of a four-day training course on ‘Savings and Credit Management’ organised by Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) of World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) at Bezai Sub-centre in Fulbari upazila of Dinajpur on Thursday afternoon.
Upazila Cooperative Office assisted in arranging the course participated by 25 female leaders of ‘Prottyasha Sanchoy O Wrindan Samobai Samity Limited’ and ‘Swapnochura Sanchoy O Wrindan Samobai Samity Limited’ under Eluary Union of the upazila.
Fulbari Upazila Cooperative Officer Mohammad Abdul Rouf attended the inaugural and concluding ceremonies as the chief guest with Programme Officer of Fulabri ADP of WVB Lal Thuai Ngak Bawm in the chair.
The participants were provided training on fundamental concepts of cooperative, account keeping, maintenance of documents, difference between shares and savings, cooperative checklist and financial report, savings guidelines, loan guidelines, budget preparation, audit and other related issues.
The participants took part in the training course actively and expressed full satisfactions for acquiring necessary knowledge and expertise to run financial and microcredit activities in their organisations better in future.
The speakers stressed for enhancing capacities of CBO leaders, small and marginal farmers and entrepreneurs to ensure proper financial managements in freeing the nation from poverty and hunger through achieving self- reliance by the poor rural women.
They said proper management with good governance in the cooperative societies could unite the poor to enhance productivities in all rural sectors, including agriculture and enterprises, in the process of building a middle income Bangladesh.
Effective cooperative management in the grassroots level cooperative societies could accelerate the process of developing human resources as well as women leadership to eradicate poverty through increasing productions and creating jobs, they said.
They called for making best use of the allocations and assistance being provided by the government and non-government organisations to accelerate rural uplift and women empowerment in building the poverty-, exploitation- and hunger-free Bangladesh.
