World Autism Day observed: Proper care can flourish talents of autistic children

The World Autism Awareness Day -2016 was observed in different districts through various programmes on Saturday .The programmes include rallies and discussion meetings. Our Correspondents and agencies report:
Rajshahi Correspondent reports: Speakers at a post-rally discussion here on Saturday said the autistic and mentally retarded children could flourish their latent talents if they were properly cared, nurtured and provided with necessary opportunities.
They put special emphasis on creating adequate awareness among the pregnant mothers and parents to substantially reduce the risk of autism and physical disability of newborn babies for building a healthier society.
They were addressing the discussion jointly organised by the district administration and Department of Social Service (DSS) at PTI conference hall in the city in observance of the 9th World Autism Awareness Day-2016. Various volunteer organisations including Foundation for Women and Child Assistance (FWCA) supported the programme.
Earlier, a huge rally, participated by autistic and disabled people including children, government and non-government officials, socio- cultural and voluntary organisations, professionals, human rights and women activists, was brought out in the city.
Akhter Jahan, MP, addressed the discussion as the chief guest while Chief Patron Mentor of FWCA Shaheen Akter Rainy and former chairman of Rajshahi Education Board Prof Shirin Sufiya Khanom spoke as special guests with Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin in the chair.
The speakers narrated the present situation on autism and disability in the country as well as in the district, country and the globe as a whole and cited various government steps for ensuring welfare of the autistic and physically challenged children.
BSS from Faridpur reports: The 9th World Autism Awareness Day, a global programme jointly organised by Social Services department and District Administration was observed here yesterday through holding rally and discussion meeting.
A rally participated by children with various disabilities, officials and NGO people carrying placards and festoons was brought out in the town to create awareness among the people about the disabled people particularly autistic.
A discussion meeting was held at the conference room of DC of Faridpur. ADC (Gen) ANM Abdus Sabur was the chief guest while Assistant Director of Social Services department Ali Ahsan chaired the meeting.
BSS from Panchagarh adds: The World Autism Awareness day 2016 was observed in Panchagarh yesterday through different programmes on Saturday.
District Administration and District Social Welfare Department jointly organised the programme.
The programme includes rally and discussion meeting. On the occasion a rally was brought out from government auditorium area and paraded the main thoroughfare of the town. After the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the conference hall of DC office.
