Speakers at a health conference in the capital city called for promoting the traditional medicine like Ayurved and Unani in the interest of health care for all.
Stressing on the integrated health system, they said many countries are now inclining towards such medicine, which has been proved effective in preventing and treating diseases.
But it could not yet reach every segment of our people, though its wider use can contribute greatly to the universal health coverage that the government has targeted to achieve by 2032, they said.
“The medicine, which is based on scientific research and approved by World Health Organization (WHO), can play an important role in providing health care to our people at affordable cost,” they said.
They came up with the remarks while addressing the 5th AYUNS International Conference at Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU) on Sunday.
