BSCIR Science Fair: Projects show the betterment of mankind

Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) has organized a three- day science fair in the city that began on Thursday at BCSIR compound giving high emphasis on people’s safety and environmental disasters.
This year, about 56 renowned schools, colleges and clubs have joined the fair where the number of stall is 170. About 433 participants will display a total of 157 projects in the fair for the three consecutive days.
“This fair is essential to build a science-minded nation. It is our duty to co-operate with the new generation for further innovation, because they will serve the nation in the future,” Md. Tofazzal Hossain, Member of Science and Technology, BCSIR, said.
Meanwhile, the projects on textile effluent treatment plan, usage of biogas, improvised bio ceramic raw materials, ecosystem friendly technique, natural disaster, home or office security systems and prevention of different environmental pollution were showcased on the first day of fair.
A group of young scientist presented some extra-ordinary projects, such as road plan to reduce accidents, water level indicator, sunken vessel detection system and earthquake forecast.
There are also projects of musical instrument, which have been made from waste materials. Besides, the projects on renewable energy, producing electricity from geothermal energy, carbon saving by reducing and recycling carbon-di-oxide were also displayed in the fair.
Apart from them, Leather Research Institute (LRI), Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST) and Pilot Plants and Process Development Center (PP & PDC) have joined the fair with their latest innovations showcasing in different stalls.
While talking with some young scientists, they said that they had given high importance to the nature, environment, natural disasters and planet’s safety during preparing the projects.
There was a huge gathering of people but most of them were students from renowned schools, colleges and science clubs.
