Bangladesh will celebrate the World Tourism Day on Wednesday with daylong colourful programmes under the global theme ‘Sustainable Tourism – a Tool for Development’.
A daylong colourful festival and musical show will be held at Rabindra Sarabor, one of the capital’s popular cultural hubs, on Wednesday to mark the day.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon will brief the media on Today morning about the programmes taken to celebrate the day, said an official.
Aviation and Tourism Journalists’ Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB), a platform of journalists covering aviation and tourism affairs, with the support from Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) will organise the festival titled ‘Tourism Fest 2017’.
Different organisations will showcase various tourism-related products and activities at the venue from morning while a discussion on this year’s theme of sustainable tourism will be held at 3.30 pm.
Minister Menon, Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu and Home Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal are expected to remain present as guests at the discussion.
In the afternoon, a live musical show will be staged where popular folk band Joler Gaan along with other traditional solo singers will perform.
Besides, tribal and traditional dance performances are also included in the festival itinerary.
The festival is sponsored by ‘Minister Fridge’ as the title and powered by national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
NOVOAIR, Galaxy Flying Club, Rangdhanu group and the Way Dhaka joined as co-sponsor while Well Food and DBC became food partner and media partner respectively.
Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) and Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) also joined hands as strategic partner of the festival.
