Eminent educationist Professor Shawkat Hussain joined as head of English Department of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP).
He was a Professor and Chairman of English Department of Dhaka University where he completed his Bachelor and Masters Degree in English Literature.
He proceeded for higher studies and completed his Masters in Dalhousie University, Canada. He was awarded PhD from the same institute.
He has previously been a Visiting Fellow of University of Queensland, Australia, North South University, Dhaka and Adjunct Faculty of Montgomery College, Rockville, Maryland, USA.
He is an acclaimed author and a regular columnist of the leading dailies of the country. He writes on contemporary topics, including education, RMG sector, politics and governance.
Prof Shawkat was the editor of Journal of the Faculty of Arts as ‘The Dhaka Studies’ from 1990-1993, Managing Editor of Bangladesh Journal of American Studies, Editor of National Center for Education in Maternal and Child Health from Washington D.C, USA, Co-Editor of ARAB News and Founder Editor of Form, a magazine of the Arts.
He edited number of books, did numerous literary and non-literary translations for various organizations.
