University Grants Commission (UGC) Member Prof Dr Md Sazzad Hossain has been nominated as the independent director of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Ltd (BCSCL).
The Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry has recently issued a circular in this regard, said a UGC press release on Thursday.
At present, Prof Sazzad Hossain is serving as a full-time member of the UGC.
Earlier, he served as the senior faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB).
BCSCL, the state-owned company, is responsible for operating Bangabandhu-1 satellite, the country’s first commercial satellite.
