Business community leaders have stressed on using modern technologies and machineries for production, packaging and marketing of hygienic and quality foodstuffs.
They expressed the views at closing ceremony of a seminar on ‘Attaining BSTI certificates and patents, design and trademark registration’ held at Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Bhaban here on Wednesday.
The Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Foundation with assistance of District Bakery Owners’ Association organised the day-long event.
Earlier, the SME Foundation organised a three-day training course on ‘Practice for proper production in bakery industry’ at same venue from December 9 to 11 before arranging the seminar on Wednesday ending the four-day programme. Forty owners of different small and medium scale bread, biscuit and other confectionery producing enterprises and factories of Rangpur region participated in the training course and seminar.
Deputy Manager of the SME Foundation Sanjida Sultana and its Assistant Manager Engineer Tanvir Foysal conducted the sessions of the training course and seminar as resource persons.
The resource persons discussed on production of bread, biscuits and other confectionery foodstuffs hygienically at small and medium scale enterprises, bakeries and factories and prerequisites for getting BSTI certificates and patents, design and trademark registration.
RCCI President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu attended the seminar as the chief guest with President of divisional unit of Bangladesh Bread, Biscuit and Confectionery Producers’ Samity Reaz Shaheed Shovan in the chair. President of the Uttarbanga Parisahd of Bangladesh Bread, Biscuit and Confectionery Producers’ Samity Maksudul Alam Patwari and Senior Vice-president of RCC Mostoba Hossain Ripan addressed the seminar as special guests.
The participants thanked the organisers for arranging the training course and seminar those largely enriched their practical knowledge on proper production and marketing of confectionery goods maintaining high quality and BSTI standard.
The chief guest lauded the SME Foundation for arranging the training and seminar programmes to enrich knowledge of owners of small and medium scale enterprises and factories involved in producing confectionery foodstuffs.
“The owners of small and medium scale enterprises and factories will fetch more profits if they produce quality and hygienic confectionery foodstuffs recommendable by the BSTI using modern technologies and machineries,” he added.
