Probe report submission against 4 incl Shahed on April 21

A Dhaka court on Tuesday asked Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) to submit probe report by April 21 in a case filed against Regent Group and Regent Hospital Chairman Shahed Karim and four others for embezzling money from Padma Bank (former Farmers Bank Limited).

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayes set the new date for submission of prove report.

The investigation report of the case was scheduled to be submitted today. But the court set a new date as the investigating agency of the case ACC did not submit the report.

The accused are Mahbubul Haque Chishti, former chairman of the executive/audit committee of the board of directors of Padma Bank, Rashedul Haque Chishti, managing director (MD) of Bakshiganj Jute Spinners Limited, Md. Shahid Karim, Chairman Regent Hospital, and Ibrahim Khalil, managing director of the hospital.

On July 27, 2020, Mohammad Shahjahan Miraj, deputy assistant director of the ACC head office, filed a case against Shahed and four others at the ACC’s integrated district office in Dhaka-1.

The case alleges that from January 11 to January 21, 2015, the accused conspired with each other to misuse power and embezzled Tk 1 crore.
