The administrative committee that investigated the sensational murders of seven people in Narayanganj has finalised its report.
Its Member Secretary Abul Kashem Md Mohiuddin told newsmen that they would submit their findings to the High Court any time.
“The report has been finalised. We are going over it word by word once again since it will be submitted to the High Court,” he said on Thursday.
It took the panel formed on High Court orders 11 months to make a report.
The investigators recorded testimonies of over 400 people, Mohiuddin said, adding that they spoke to some more than once.
He, however, would not disclose their findings or their recommendations.
“We have tried to touch upon all the issues in the report. Information gleaned from witnesses has also been incorporated.”Seven people including Narayanganj City Councillor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker were abducted on Apr 27 last year.
Their bodies were found floating on the Shitalakhyya River after several days.
The families of Islam and Sarker had later filed two separate cases at Fatulla Model Police Station.
Nazrul’s family alleged that local Awami League leader Nur Hossain paid the RAB Tk 60 million for the abduction and murder. In the case, they named Hossain as the prime suspect. The High Court on May 7 ordered the formation of a probe committee.
It had been tasked to find out if the law enforcers were involved in the murders in any way or whether they were negligent in rescuing the abductees.
The administrative body’s investigations had hit snags, when on Nov 9 its chief Shahjahan Ali Molla was appointed to the Public Service Commission as secretary.
Public administration ministry’s Additional Secretary Md Abdul Hakim was then appointed to lead the enquiry.
However, on December 10, the High Court ordered the government to reinstate Molla as the chief of the probe committee.
