Barishal University (BU authority formed 3-member probe committee on Wednesday night in connection of chopping and torturing residential students Sher- E -Bangla Hall of BU in dispute over distribution of seats.
Prof.Muhammad Ibrahim Molla, provost of the hall, acknowledging the facts said three residential teachers of the hall led by Yasif Ahmed Faisal as convener along with Sohel Rana and Saiful Islam asked to submit their report after investigating the matter within next five-working days.
Prof. Subrata Kumar Das, proctor of BU, the proctorial body of the university holding a meeting on Wednesday analyzing the situation stressed to identify the causes of conflict and the persons liable for that. The probe committee will also try to find out real causes and persons liable for destabilizing the campus situation.
Mentionable general students of Barishal University holding agitation rally, procession and forming human chain in the campus area on Wednesday noon demanded immediate action against the attackers on the fellow students at the campus.
Zidan, Rafi, Farhan and Uchchhwas, four students of 8th batch of BU at residential Bangabandhu Hall, were injured by chopping of rival group and admitted at Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital on Tuesday afternoon in conflict over distribution of seat at the hall.
The speakers demanding immediate legal and academic action against the attackers called for stopping spreading rumor, conflict between local and non-local students, assurance for safety and security of all students.
Anwar Hossain, officer in charge of Bandar Thana under Barishal Metropolitan Police, said they remain alert to maintain normalcy of law and order situation in the campus area.
