Probe body submits report over Bhola clash

The committee formed to investigate the incident of Bhola mayhem that killed four people on October 20, submitted its report to the district’s Deputy Commissioner (DC) on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam Siddique, who received the report in his office in the morning, did not disclose the findings of the report. Action will be taken as per the findings and recommendations of the report submitted by the three-member committee formed by the DC office on the very night of the clash in Borhanuddin upazila of the district.
Probe committee chief and local government division Deputy Director Mamudur Rahman submitted the report to Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam Siddique . Meanwhile, local MP Ali Azam Mukul handed cash of Tk 500,000 to the families of four victims on Saturday.
Four persons were killed and more than 200 others injured on 20 October in a clash between police and the protesters who were demanding punishment to a youth in Borhanuddin upazila for allegedly hurting religious sentiments on Facebook. Police and locals said messages containing derogatory remarks about Allah and Prophet Muhammad (SM) were sent to several persons from the Facebook ID of Biplob Chandra Shuvo. Screenshots of the messages went viral on Facebook, triggering condemnation and protests.
