A probe body has recommended departmental action against five policemen of Kharabaad Baintola police camp over beating a private university student for his protest against their harassment of his school-going sister in Batiaghata upazila.
The accused police
personnel are-Nayek Md Jahidul Islam, and constables Md Naimul Islam, Md Mamun Kabir, Riaz Hossain and Abir Hossain. Additional superintendent of police Md Naimul Haque, also acting SP, said on Sunday that the probe body recommended departmental action as the body found the allegation true.
The Committee members on Thursday went to Baintola police camp and talked to seven victim school girls and also Tarek Mahmud, a law student of Western University, who was assaulted by policemen for his protest and 30 witnesses. On Tuesday last, twelve policemen of the camp were closed to the district police lines over the incident.
