The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives has suspended chairman of Muktagachha upazila Zakaria Harun.
The suspension order signed by Lutfun Nahar, senior assistant secretary of the ministry, reached the upazila parishad on Sunday, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Dr Umme Afsari Jahura.
The order said the
ministry issued a gazette notification on June 30 suspending Zakaria Harun from the chairman post of Muktagachha upazila as he was accused in a case.
The case was filed with Muktagachha Police Station on November 24, 2013. Vice chairman of the upazila Golam Shahriar Sharif will take over the charge of the chairman, Umme Afsari Jahura added.
Contacted, suspended Chairman Zakaria Harrun, also general secretary of the upazila unit of BNP, alleged that the government has suspended him for political vengeance.
