Pro- BNP teachers of Dhaka University (DU) on Monday protested against the harassments of university’s residential hall students and demanded security for the students who were involved in quota reformation movement.
Under the banner of DU white panel, more than 40 teachers brought out a silent procession from the premises of Aparajeyo Bangla and paraded to the Madhu’s Canteen beside Institute of
Business Administration (IBA) on the campus around 11.30 pm.
After the procession Prof Akhter Hossain Khan, convener of the white panel said, “The demand of quota reformation was a legal and logical demand. Students were conducting their quota reformation movement peacefully. But on 8th April night, police and outsiders attacked them suddenly. Some miscreants also vandalised the house of Vice-Chancellor (VC).”
“We condemn the attack on students and hope no general students will be victimized for their involvement in the with quota movement,” he added.
He also demanded for holding DUCSU election immediately and said, “If DUCSU was active, some problems would have solved automatically. Students would get their democratic right.”
Former Dean of Arts Faculty Prof Sadrul Amin, Prof ABM Obaidul Islam, Prof Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Prof Lutfur Rahman among others attended the procession.
