Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, a platform of pro-BNP lawyers, on Wednesday announced their panel, partly for the upcoming election of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).
Former SCBA President and BNP Vice-Chairman Senior Advocate Zainul Abedin will contest for the post of the President and forum’s convening committee’s member Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal will fight for the General Secretary post.
Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain, convener of the
Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, announced the names in a press briefing organized in the office of the ‘Law Reporters Forum’ on the Supreme Court premises yesterday.
The other names of the 14 member-panel would be announced later, said the veteran lawyer.
Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum’s Member-Secretary Advocate Fazlur Rahman, Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker, Barrister Badruddoza Badol, Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder, Barrister Kayser Kamal and Advocate Gazi Kamrul Islam Sajal, among others, were present on the occasion.
The election for forming the 14-member new committee of the SCBA may be held in the second week of March, said Nimesh Chanda, Superintendent of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
The Supreme Court lawyers fight in this election each year dividing mainly in two major panels. The pro-Awami League lawyers have not announced their panel yet.
