Pro-AL panel sweeps DU registered graduate polls

Ruling Awami League backed panel Gonotantrik Oikya Parishad has swept the registered graduate representatives’ election for the Dhaka University senate.
The Oikya Parishad bagged 24 seats while Bangladesh Nationalist Party-backed Jatiyatabadi Parishad bagged only one seat.
Election Commissioner Pro-VC (Education) Nasreen Ahmed announced the result after counting the ballot at the seminar room of
Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university on Sunday afternoon.
The winning representative of Gonotantrik Oikya Parishad were Ataur Rahman, Maksud Kamal, Mohammad Fariduddin, Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Bahalul Mojnun, Mohammad Abdus Samad, Zeenat Huda, Asim Sarkar, Iqbal Arslan, Sadeka Halim, Mahfuja Khanom, Tazin Aziz Chowdhury, Emran kabir Chowdhury, Enamul Huq, Liakat Hossen, Mohammad Alauddin, Syed Humayun Akhter, Ranjit Kumar Saha, Ramendu Majumdar, Abm Badruddoza, Nizam Chowdhury, Abdul Aziz, Abdul Bari and Nasir Uddin.
AFM Yusuf Haider was the lone candidate won from the Jatiyatabadi Parishad.
On Saturday, around forty four thousand voters cast their ballot at three centers, Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, Teacher Student Center and Physical Training center of the university which began at 9am and continued to 5pm.
Earlier, the two phases of the election were held at 42 polling stations outside Dhaka on 6 and 13 January.
In the last election in 2013, Awami League-supported’ panel Gonotantrik Oikya Parishad bagged 18 seats while BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Parishad bagged seven seats.
