The Prize distribution ceremony of the Marcel 1st Division Chess League was held on Friday at Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) hall-room.
FM Iqbal Bin Anwar (Dawn), head of sports and welfare department of Walton group, was present as the chief guest in the ceremony and distributed the prizes.
KM Shahidullah, vice-president of BCF was present as special guest with Gazi Shayiful Tarique, chairman of chess league committee and vice-president of BCF, in the chair.
Joint Secretaries of BCF M Moniruzzaman Palash and Masudur Rahman Mallick Dipu, also secretary of Chess League Committee, Executive Members of BCF M Alauddin Saju and Debasis Dey and M Haroon ur Rashid, chief arbiter were present, among others, on the occasion.
Unbeaten champions Access Chess Club received cash prize of Taka 35 thousand and runners-up Sheikh Russel Chess Club got Taka 25 thousand, while Hasan Memorial Chess Club, the third-place achiever team received Taka 15 thousand as prize money.
The event was held in round-robin league system and nine teams were took part in the league. Champion Access Chess Club and runners-up Sheikh Russel Chess Club have qualified to participate in the next year’s Premier Division Chess League.
