International icon Priyanka Chopra is all set to return to Hindi cinema with her upcoming film titled Bharat paired opposite Salman Khan. This is Priyanka’s first film in nearly three years after Prakash Jha’s Jai Gangaajal. Her Indian fans have missed seeing her on the big screen. The fan-favourite pair, which was last seen in God Tussi Great Ho (2008), makes a comeback after a decade in this Ali Abbas Zafar film.
Priyanka Chopra recently opened about returning to Hindi films in a promotional interview for the third season of her hit TV show, Quantico. Priyanka stated, “I’ve finished two films: A Kid Like Jake, which comes out in June. And Isn’t it Romantic, which comes out Valentine’s Day 2019. (In the latter) I play a spoiled rich woman who is a yoga guru. Bharat is the quintessential Bollywood movie, which I haven’t done in many years. A lot of them were dramatic and thematic. This one’s going to be out and out entertainment. I’m excited! I haven’t been back to do a movie in two or three years now.”
When the announcement for Bharat was made, Priyanka had this to say. “I’m looking forward to working with Salman and Ali after a considerable time. I’ve learnt a lot from them during our previous collaborations and I am excited to see what this one has to offer. I’m also looking forward to working with Atul (Agnihotri, producer), Alvira (Khan) and the entire team. To all my well-wishers who have been patient and supportive, thank you for your constant support and I’ll see you at the movies.”
Salman-Priyanka were cast opposite each other for the first time in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004). Since then, they have also worked in Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love and God Tussi Great Ho. As mentioned, Bharat is being directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, who has apparently become a Salman favourite after the two collaborated on Sultan (2016) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017). Priyanka has also worked with Ali in Gunday (2014) and shares a good rapport with him. Bharat hits the screens on Eid next year.
