Independence award winning sculptor and freedom fighter Ferdousi Priyabhashini was buried at the Mirpur Martyred Intellectual Graveyard on Thursday afternoon. On Tuesday, Priyabhashini in her 71 died of cardiac arrest in a city hospital leaving behind three sons and two daughters.
In the morning, leaders and activists of different political, socio-cultural and professional organisations as well as cross section of people of the society paid their last tributes to the sculptor at central Shaheed Minar in the capital.
A guard of honour was given there to the valiant freedom fighter by a contingent of Bangladesh Police.
Bangladesh Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and leaders of Communist Party of Bangladesh, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal faction led by Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu, another faction of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Worker’ Party of Bangladesh, Ganasanghati Andolan, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal, Revolutionary Workers’ Party of Bangladesh and Democratic Left Alliance placed wreaths at the coffin of the departed sculptor.
