A convicted prisoner, who had been serving two years’ imprisonment in the district jail in a theft case, died on way to Magura Sadar Hospital on Saturday evening.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Kuddus Sheikh, 60, son of Emarat Sheikh, a resident of Nikhorhata village in Mohammadpur upazila of the same district.
Tayef Uddin Mia, superintendent of Magura district jail, said Abdul Kuddus died around 7.00 pm while being rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital after he complained of sickness. Later on-duty doctors at the hospital declared him dead, said Dr Bikash Shikder of the hospital.
