Prime Bank Cricket Club took the lead in the Walton Refrigerator Dhaka Premier Division Cricket leapfrogging Abahani Ltd after the third round Super League matches held at three separate venues in Dhaka and adjoining areas on Tuesday.
With the day’s result, Prime Bank CC earned 22 points to secure the top slot while both collecting 20 points each, Prime Doleshwar SC is in the 2nd position and league leader Abahani slipped to 3rd slot on the basis of nett run rate.
Securing 16 points each, Kalabagan CA, Mohammedan SC and Legends of Rupganj are in 4th, 5th and 6th position by virtue of nett run rate.
As per the revised schedule, in the fourth round matches on January 2, Abahani will take on Kalabagan CA at SBNCS in Mirpur; Prime Bank CC will face Mohammedan SC at BKSP-3 in Savar; and Prime Doleshwar SC will play against Legends of Rupganj at KSOAS in Fatullah.
In the day’s curtailed over matches, Prime Bank CC beat Kalabagan Cricket Academy by 6 wickets at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah; Abahani lost to Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club by 5 wickets at Sher-e Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur; and lowly Mohammedan SC won against defending champions Legends of Rupganj by 7 wickets at BKSP-3.
Prime Bank CC vs Kalabagan Cricket Academy
Batting first after winning the toss, Kalabagan CA scored 188 runs for 8 wickets in curtailed 45 overs.
Number four Mahmudul Hasan scored team highest 33 runs off 66 balls with a four while Mehedi Hasan Miraz (31), Nazmul Hossain (28), Sabbir Rumman (25), Nafees Iqbal (21) and skipper Anamul Haque (19) were the other double digit scorers for the side.
Taskin Ahmed and Enamul Haque Jr grabbed two wickets each for 42 and 46 runs respectively in 8 and 9 overs. Saikat Ali and Forhad Reza took one wicket each for 15 and 40 runs respectively in 5 and 8 overs.
Chasing 189 runs for win, Prime Bank CC reached the target scoring 191 runs for 4 in 37 overs, riding on an opening stand of 113 runs in 24 overs between Soumya Sarker and Saikat Ali.
Soumya Sarker scored 61 runs off 69 balls with eight fours while Saikat Ali made 49 runs off 80 balls with four fours and two sixes.
Skipper Mahmudullah scored run-a-ball 27 with a four and a six while Shuvagata Hom (17), Thilina Kandambi (not out 15) and Taiabur Parvez (not out 10) were the other scorers for the side.
Darren Stevens grabbed two wickets for 38 runs in 7 overs while Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Mahmudul Hasan took one wicket each for 36 and 39 runs respectively in 5 and 8 overs.
Abahani vs Prime Doleshwar SC
Sent into bat first, Abahani scored 201 runs for 9 wickets in curtailed 45 overs with opening batsman Liton Kumar Das scoring team highest 44 runs off 54 balls with six fours and a six.
In the 4ht wicket stand, Rakibul Hasan pairing with Nasir Hossain contributed 56 runs in 14.2 overs to carry the team total to 130 for 4 in 34.1 overs.
Number four Rakibul Hasan scored 41 runs off 70 balls with three fours while skipper Ziaur Rahman (34), Nasir Hossain (31), Forhad Hossain (21) and Chamara silva (12) were the other double digit scorers for the side.
Sanjamul Islam, Mukter Ali and Elias Sunny grabbed two wickets each for 32, 33, and 57 runs respectively, all bowling 9 overs. Habibur Rahman took one wicket for 8 runs in 3 overs.
Set to score 202 for win, Prime Doleshwar SC reached their target scoring 205 runs for 5 wickets in 43.1 overs, spurred by number five Dawid Malan’s unbeaten 87 runs off 112 balls with nine fours and a six.
