Prime Bank Cricket Club beat Gazi Group Cricketers by two wickets in their Super League match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Wednesday.
Prime Bank Cricket Club captured 22 points from 14 matches, while Gazi Group earned 15 points from as many matches.
Chasing Gazi Group’s fighting total of 125 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs, Prime Bank reached the winning spot making 129 for the loss of eight wickets when they had just one ball to spare.
Nahidul Islam of Prime Bank hit a windy 39. His 25-ball innings saw three sixes and one four.
Alok Kapali and Raqibul Hasan added 21 and 20 runs respectively to the Prime Bank total.
Mahedi Hasan, Mominul Haque and Nasum Ahmed of Gazi Group bagged two wickets each for 12, 21 and 22 runs respectively.
Earlier, Mahedi Hasan made 33 from 31 balls featuring four fours, while Ariful Haque scored 31 from 28 deliveries including one four and one six.
Alok Kapali of Prime Bank grabbed three wickets at the cost of 16 runs. Kapali was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Shoriful Islam bagged two wickets in the space of 34 runs.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited registered a massive seven-wicket victory over Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited in their Super League match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the same venue on the same day.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited gained 17 points from 14 matches, while Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited remained with 13 points from as many outings.
Sent into bat first, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club scored 133 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
In return, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club sailed home making 137 for the loss of three wickets when they had one over to spare.
Opener Mohammad Ashraful of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club notched up a polished 38. His 42-ball innings was studded with four fours and a sixer.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan remained unbeaten with 36. His 31-ball knock was laced with two fours and a six.
Tanbir Hayder remained unbeaten with 32. His 17-ball innings was ornamented with three fours and two sixes.
Earlier, Shamsur Rahman of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club hit a fine 49. His 40-ball knock was decorated with three fours and a sixer, while opener Parvez Hossain Emon made a polished 46. His 35-ball innings was belted with three sixes and three fours.
Ebadot Hossain and Ziaur Rahman captured three wickets each for 17 and 29 runs respectively. Ebadot Hossain was adjudged the Man of the Match.
