Good news – almost all winter vegetables have arrived in the market this autumn, but the bad news is they are pricey.
The supply of cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, beans and turnip was abundant in Malibagh, Faridpur, Fakirapool and Mugda kitchen markets on Friday.
Cauliflower and cabbage sold at Tk 25-26 a piece, ripe tomato at Tk 75-80 a kg and green tomato at Tk 50-55.
A kg of bean is costing Tk 40, radish Tk 30, turnip Tk 40, aubergine Tk 40-50, potato Tk 25 and okra Tk 30. A bundle of spinach sold at Tk 15.
Buyers said they were happy with the early arrival of winter vegetables but prices were ‘very high’.
Jamal Hossain, a vegetables buyer at Mugda kitchen market, said: “Sellers are charging us high prices.
