Price of vegetables slightly falls

The price of vegetables decreased slightly, but price of other commodities remained stable on Friday in the city’s kitchen markets.
Visiting different kitchen markets at Muhammadpur , Karwan Bazar, Malibag, Shantinagar and Hatirpool, the reporter observed that green chilli was selling at Tk100 to 120 per kg, brinjal at Tk 50 to 70, potato at Tk 20 to 25, okra at Tk 60 to 70, parble at Tk 50, raddish at Tk 40, arum at Tk 40 to 50, snake gourd at Tk 50 to 55, french beans at Tk 70 to 80, balsam apple at Tk 70, teasel gourd at Tk 60 to 70, carrot at Tk 100 to 160, bitter gourd at Tk 50 to 60, cucumber at Tk 40 to 0, green papaya at Tk 20 to 30, pumpkin (medium size) at Tk 70 to 90 per piece, bottle gourd at Tk 50 to 60, ash gourd at Tk 30 to 40 per piece, cauliflower at Tk 30 to 40, coriander leaves at Tk300 per kg, capsicum (red) at Tk 350 per kg and capsicum (green) at Tk 250 to 280 per kg. Lemon was selling at Tk 8 to Tk10 per piece.
Of fishes, Pabda was selling at Tk 400-Tk 450, Golsha at Tk 450-600, Tengra at Tk 400-650, Shing and Magur at Tk 450-Tk 800 and Shoul at Tk 350 -500 per kg in the city markets. Of other fishes, Butter fish was sold at Tk 300 to 350, sheat (boal) at Tk 500 to 700, lobster at Tk 450 to 600 ,shrimp (River) at Tk 350 to 400, puti at Tk 200 to 300 per kg, cultivated koi at Tk 150 to 180 per kg, Fali Chanda (Rupchanda) at Tk 900 to 1100 per kg,
lata fish at Tk 250 to 300 and Eel at Tk 450 to 550 per kg, batashi at Tk 400 to 500, koi (river) at Tk 600, Aire fish at Tk 500 to 700, Baila at Tk 400 to 550 per kg, coral fish at Tk 450 to 600 per kg, river Pangas at Tk 350 per kg, cultivated Pangas at Tk 140 per kg, Rajputi at Tk 250 per kg and Telapia at Tk 150 to Tk 200 per kg.
The broiler chicken price has remained stable in the week. The white broiler chicken was selling at Tk 130 to Tk 135 per kg, mother chicken at Tk 160 to 170 per kg, the sonali cock (Pakistani origin) at Tk 180 to 220 per piece, local (deshi) chicken weighing 800 gm to 900 gm was selling at Tk 350 to 400 per piece.
Beef was selling at Tk 490-Tk 520 per kg and red meat (goat) at Tk750 to 800 per kg
The main curry item was selling at Tk 65 to 70 per kg in different kitchen markets of the capital yesterday. The imported onion was selling at Tk 50 to 55 per kg.
The garlic was selling at Tk 90 100 per kg and ginger at Tk 100 to120 per kg based on quality.
The rice price has decreased slightly. Superior quality of Miniket rice was selling at Tk 65 per kg, average miniket at Tk 55 to 60 per kg, Najirshail at Tk 60 to 65, Jeerashail, Paijam and Lata at Tk 56 to 60 per kg on Friday, medium quality of Bridhan-28 and Lota at Tk 54-58 per kg. Different kinds of coarse rice like Swarna were selling at Tk 53 and similarly the hybrid quality at Tk 52 to Tk 57 per kg.
A one-litre container of soya bean oil was selling at Tk 105-107 and a five-litre container at Tk 505-525 in the city’s kitchen markets. Unpacked soya bean oil was selling at Tk 98 a kg and palm oil at Tk 85 a kg.
Fine quality packet salt was selling at Tk 40 a kg and the refined one at Tk 28 a kg in the city markets.
The price of sugar remained unchanged at Tk 60-65 a kg in most of the city markets.
The local variety of red lentil was selling at Tk 130-140 a kg, the coarse variety of imported red lentil was retailing at Tk 80-100 a kg over the week.
