Price of vegetables came down

The prices of vegetables have come down in the city’s kitchen markets with the arrival of new products. The prices of other commodities, however, remained stable at the weekend on Friday.
Of vegetables, brinjal was selling at Tk 35 to 45 per kg, potato at Tk 20 to 25, french at Tk 40 to 50, carrot at Tk 30 to 35, bitter gourd at Tk 40 to 50, cucumber at Tk 30, khira at Tk 25 per kg, spone gourd at Tk 40 to 50, papaya at Tk 25, parble at Tk 35 to 40, snake gourd at Tk 40 to 50, okra at Tk 50, raddish at Tk 25, pumpkin (medium size) at Tk 35 to 60 per piece, bottle gourd at Tk 35 to 50, ash gourd at Tk 20 to 35 per piece, cabbage at Tk 20 to 30, cauliflower at 15 to 20 per piece, coriander leaves at Tk 200 per kg, green chilli at 50 to 60 kg, capsicum (red) at Tk 250 kg and capsicum (green) at Tk 220 to 250 per kg.
Local cat fish and barbell were selling at Tk 700 per kg, batashi at Tk 500, koi at Tk 700,
Air fish at Tk 600 kg, pabda at Tk710, sheat (boal) at Tk 600 to 700 kg, cultivated cat fish (Shing) was selling at Tk 350- 550 per kg, barbel at Tk 400 to 600, butter fish at Tk 250 to 300, lobster at Tk 450 to 600 kg, shrimp (River) at Tk 400-550, Puti at Tk 200 per kg, cultivated koi at Tk 130 to 180 per kg, Fali Chanda (Rupchada) at Tk 1050 kg, pabda at Tk 540, walking fish (Shoal)
at Tk 400 kg, lata fish at Tk 180 to 220 and Eel at Tk 600, Ek-thota (Kaitta fish) at Tk 350 to Tk 400, Baila at Tk 450 to 600 kg, coral fish at Tk 550 kg, river Pangas at Tk 350 kg, cultivated Pangas at Tk 130 kg, Rajputi at Tk 300 kg, Tilapia at Tk 140 to Tk 200 kg, Ruhit at Tk 250 to Tk 380 kg and medium size carp (katol) at Tk 230 -360 per kg.
Visiting different city kitchen markets, the reporter observed that the broiler and layer chicken price increased by Tk 10-Tk 15 per kg, while indigenous and Pakistani varieties increased by Tk20-Tk 40 per kg. Broiler chicken was sold at Tk 155-Tk 165 kg and layer at Tk 185-Tk 190 kg.
Indigenous variety of chicken was traded forTk 360-Tk 380 a kg while a medium size cock was selling at Tk 350 per piece.
People of fixed income group and service holder cannot take the taste of the river fish as the price thereof is sky high. Price of some fish increased by Tk 20 to 40 per kg but cultivated fish price remained stable.
The lentil was selling at Tk 110 to 155 per kg based on quality at retail markets. Sugar was sold at Tk 74 to 78 per kg.
Local garlic was selling at Tk 180 while imported garlic at Tk 210 to 220, ginger at Tk 100 to 120, onion (new) at Tk 30 to 32 and imported onion at Tk 25 to 28 per kg.
Medium quality of rice like Brridhan-28, 29, Paijam, Kajol Lata, Parija and Ratna were selling at Tk 35-Tk42 per kg at the weekend on Friday. Fine varieties like Miniket, Najirshail and Kataribhog remained static maintaining higher rates. Miniket of different qualities were sold at Tk 45-Tk 51 per kg and Najirshail at Tk46-Tk 50 per kg in the city.
Wheat packet of two kg was selling at Tk 75 to 82, packet (brown) at Tk 42 to 44, loose wheat at Tk17 to 23 per kg, flour at Tk 32 per kg.
