Price of onion, garlic on further rise

The price of onion and garlic has increased by Tk5 and Tk10 per kg while that of other item remained unchanged at the weekend on Friday. The consumers have expressed their happiness as all kinds of vegetables are available at reasonable price.
But the farmers are unhappy with the fall of price of vegetables.Talking with The New Nation, Salauddin Sheikh, a farmer from Dhamrai, Manikganj said that the farmers were not collecting radish and cabbage from field.
The radish was selling at Tk1.5 per kg while bean at Tk5 on Friday. Of the others vegetables, brinjal was selling at Tk 25 to Tk30, tomato at Tk 25 to 40, tomato green at Tk 25, bitter gourd at Tk 25 to Tk30, cucumber at Tk 35 to 40, okra at Tk 30 to 35, papaya at Tk 15, potato (new) at Tk 25 and old at Tk 22, carrot at Tk 30, french at Tk 40, parbal at Tk 20 to 25, snake gourd at Tk 30 to 35, pumpkin (medium size) Tk 35 to 50 per piece, cauliflower Tk 15 to 20, bottle gourd Tk 40 to 50, ash gourd Tk 20 to 25, coriander leaves at Tk 50 per kg, green chilli at Tk 30 to 40, cauliflower at Tk 30 per piece, china cabbage at Tk 35, buah bit at 50 per kg, at capsicum (red) at Tk 250 kg and capsicum (green) at Tk 200 to 220 per kg.
Five litres of Rupchanda brand canned soybean oil was selling at Tk 510 and Teer brand at Tk 490 to Tk 560 and. New arrival varieties of onion was selling at Tk35 per kg, old was selling at Tk 40 to Tk44 and imported onion at Tk 35. Imported garlic was selling at Tk 90 per kg and local one at Tk 80.
Imported ginger was selling at Tk 160 to 180, local produce at Tk 90 to Tk100 only, and lentil at Tk 115.
Of fish prices, Puti was selling at Tk 250 per kg at Karwan Bazr, Kholisa at Tk 300, Chapila at Tk 400, local Koi at Tk 600, Fali Chanda (Rupchada) at Tk 1200, Chanda small at Tk 250, Cheh at Tk 450, walking fish at Tk 350, Eel at Tk 450, Meni at Tk 400, sheat at Tk 600 to 800 per kg, Ek-thota (Kaitta fish) at Tk 550, Feat Fish at 550, Pangas river at Tk 700, cultivated Pangas at Tk 170, Rajputi at Tk 450, Tilapia at Tk 180, Ruhi fish was selling at Tk 350 per kg, medium-sized Carp at Tk 250-300 a kg, big-sized katol at Tk 400 per kg, cultivated climbing fish at Tk 250 per kg, local variety of catfish (Shing) at Tk 500-900, barbel at Tk800 per kg, big-sized shrimp at Tk 800-1000 per kg and small shrimp at Tk 350-400 per kg.
A medium size of local cock was selling at Tk 400 to 550 per piece and hen at Tk 300 to 340. The boiler chickens’ price stands at Tk 175 per kg. Beef meat was selling at Tk 320 per kg while redmeat at Tk 500. The egg (chicken) was selling at Tk 34 per hali (4 pieces) and egg (duck) at Tk 38 to Tk 40.
On Friday, the coarse rice was selling at Tk 35 to 36 per kg, pyjam at Tk 36 to Tk 37, Nazishail brand of rice was selling at Tk 53, Minicate at Tk 52-54, Pillau rice (Badsha bhog) at Tk 80 to Tk 100 and Kalogira at Tk 100 to Tk115 only.
