Price fall in large-caps drives stocks further down

Stock markets closed on Monday of the week with downward trend due to price fall in large-cap securities. The falling major sectors were food and allied and textile. A total of 158 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 17.16 points down at 5,262.91. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 7.78 points down at 1,240.92 and with 7.03 points down at 1,871.74 respectively. The daily trade fell to 13.57 crore shares from Sunday’s 14 crore. But, the day’s trade value at the DSE increased to Taka 614.57 crore from Taka 577.34 crore of the previous session.
At the DSE, prices of 92 securities out of the day’s 335 closed higher against 200 losing issues. The major gaining issues were Legacy Foot, BD Auto Cars, Ambee Pharma, RENWICKJA and Jamuna Bank. The major losing companies were Meghan Pet, MEGCONMILK, Beach Hatchery, Dacca Dying and Sonargaon.
