Price fall in large-caps drives stocks down

Stock markets closed on Monday with downward trend mainly due to price fall in large-cap securities.
The falling major sectors were insurance, textile, financial institutions and ceramics. A total of 154 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) settled at 6,082.29, after falling 11.66 points compared to the previous session. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 7.17 points down at 1,405.23 and with 11.78 points down at 2,244.04.
The daily trade fell to 12.23 crore shares from Sunday’s 13.02 crore shares. But the day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 486.64 crore from Taka 455.45 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 335 securities, prices of 108 securities closed higher against 183 losing issues. The major gaining issues were BSCCL, BSC, ANWARGALV, USMANIAGL and GQ Ball Pen. The major losing companies were GREENDELT, Sonargaon, Prime Finance, SP Ceramics and Makson Spinning.
