Stock markets closed on Monday of the week with downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities. The falling major sectors were textile, financial institutions, travel and leisure, telecommunication and insurance. A total of 176 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities. The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 20.37 points down at 5,443.81. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 4.56 points down at 1,260.66 and with 8.66 points down at 1,902.42.
The daily trade fell to 16.41 crore shares from Sunday’s 17.36 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 696.95 crore from Taka 804.33 crore of the previous session.
