Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

Stock markets saw the day downward as major sectors closed the session with falling trend at both the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges on Monday.
The falling major sectors were textile, insurance and bank. A total of 167 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The border DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 76.60 points down at 6,128.89. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 5.39 points down at 1,349.26 and with 15.49 points down at 2,199.66.
The day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 967.84 crore from Sunday’s Taka 1054.25 crore and the daily trade fall to 31.89 crore shares from 34.35 crore shares of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 332 securities, prices of 92 securities closed higher against 205 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Style Craft, CVOPRL, Rahim Text, Aamra Net and BD Auto Cars while the major losing issues were SIMTEX, Prime Insurance, Dhaka Bank, Monno Staffler and United Insurance.
