President urges youngsters to be aware of defeated forces

President Abdul Hamid on Wednesday urged university teachers to make the new generation aware about the historic War of Liberation as the defeated force is still trying to misguide the youngsters.
“The youth must know the true history of liberation war and it is the responsibilities of academics to help the students know country’s history,” the President said while speaking at the fifth convocation of Khulna University.
A total of 4529 students received degrees at the convocation while 14 students were given gold medals for their outstanding performance.
Abdul Hamid, also the Chancellor of the university, said the quality of education is yet to reach the expected level and underscored the need for increasing investment in the education sector.
“In this context I want to mention a quotation from noble laureate Kailash Satyarthi. The return from the investment of education is nine times. It is possible to achieve the return through building a knowledge-based society,” he added.
The President said higher studies and research are closely connected as the knowledge earned through a successful research can bring unlimited welfare to mankind.
“Research is a matter of continuous effort and involves huge money. I urge the government and specially University Grants Commission (UGC) to allocate money and other assistances to conduct research,” he added.
Abdul Hamid said Khulna region is enriched with Bio-diversity as the Sundarbans is situated here and here is also huge coastal area enriched with marine resources.
He urged the university researchers to carry out research on the Bio-diversity and valuable marine resources.
Welcoming the new graduates, the President said, “You are the valuable human resource and I hope that you will take the country ahead.
