President Abdul Hamid on Wednesday expressed deep shock at the loss of lives in Monday’s launch capsize near Mawa ferry terminal in the river Padma.
In a message, the President prayed for peace of the departed souls of the victims and conveyed sympathy to members of their bereaved families.
The President instructed the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future.
He urged all concerned, including the owners of private launches, (captains/sarengs), workers and passengers to cooperate with the government in stopping accidents on waterways.
