President, PM for creating awareness for food safety

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday issued separate messages on the eve of the “World Health Day” putting emphasis on food safety.
In his message, the President said theme of the day for this year “Safe Food-Healthy Lives” is very time-buffeting to eradicate the diseases by taking contaminated foods.
“The government is committed to ensure updated medical facilities, sanitation systems at the doorsteps of the people,” he said adding “Government is successful to tackle different infectious diseases completely, life expectancy has risen and maternal and child mortality rate has been reduced.”
But food contamination is a threat for human health which may cause long term affect, he said.
Emphasizing to create awareness among people the President said, “The government is implementing various programmes including ‘Consumer Rights Acts’ for ensuring improvement of health care system.” He wished success of the day.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her message reiterated her government’s commitment to safeguard the health of the people.
In her message, the PM said theme of the day for this year to create awareness among people to take safe foods.
“Our success in the health sector is acclaimed across the world. We brought healthcare services to the doorsteps of the people but there is no alternative to control diseases by checking food contamination,” she said.
“The government is implementing various steps across the country to sensitize people about food security and nutritious foods including enacting ‘the National Food Security Act 2013’ and ‘Food Control Administration’ for ensuring improvement of health care system,” she said.
The Prime Minister said her government has started community clinic across the country, increased bed numbers at upazila and district hospitals, established new medical colleges and increased specialized treatment to a great extent.
She wished success of the day.
