Mayor wants Chittagong region to be declared as Tourist Hub: Int’l Tourism Fair kicks off in Port City

A three-day international tourism fair titled US- Bangla Airlines Chittagong Travel Mart 2017 begun at The Peninsula Chittagong hotel in the port city yesterday.
Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation A J M Nasir Uddin inaugurated the Fair as Chief Guest. US- Bangla Airlines is supporting the fair as the Title Sponsor.
Mayor in his speech stressed the need for declaring the Chittagong as a Tourism Hub, considering the potentials of the region. He further informed that Chittagong City Corporation in partnership with various stakeholders is going to undertake few initiatives in next few months for development of tourism in the region.
Presided over by Dr. Md. Nasir Uddin, CEO Bangladesh Tourism Board the inaugural ceremony was addressed by Arjun Das, Director, Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry ; Md. Muslim, Additional DIG, Tourist Police; Md. Kamrul Islam, General Manager, Marketing Support and Public Relations, US- Bangla Airlines and Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor, The Bangladesh Monitor.
In his welcome speech, Kazi Wahidul Alam said considering that Chittagong region has immense tourism potentials The Banglades Monitor has been organising the fair for last nine years .He expressed the hope to organise the fair in a bigger scale in future.
Twenty organisations including airlines, tour operators, hotels, resorts, amusement parks and other organisations, providing tourism related services, are exhibiting their products and services at the fair.
Exhibitors are offering special discount on air tickets, hotel rooms, tour packages and other products and services for the visitors.
The fair is open for visitors up to November 18, 2017 from 10.30 am to 8 pm everyday. without any entry fee. Attractive raffle prizes including air tickets to Singapore, Kolkata, Dhaka and other destinations will be given to visitors everyday.
