President off to Astana to attend OIC Summit

President M Abdul Hamid on Saturday left here for Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, to attend ‘The First Summit of the OIC on Science and Technology’ to be held on September 10-11.
“A VVIP flight, BG-1907, of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the President and his entourage left Hazrat Shahjalal (R) Airport for Kazakhstan at 2:45 pm,” President’s Press Secretary Mohammad Joynal Abedin told BSS.
President Hamid is leading the Bangladesh delegation, comprising officials from the Office of the President, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Science and Technology, to the two-day summit.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, deans of the diplomatic corps, cabinet secretary, chiefs of the three services, Senior Secretary Suraiya Begum of Prime Minister’s Office, secretaries, inspector general of police, military and civil high officials concerned saw him off at the VVIP Lounge of the airport.
During the visit, the President is expected to have a bilateral meeting with his Kazakh counterpart and some of other counterparts from participating member states.
The President is likely to return home on August 12, President’s Press Secretary said.
