President in KSA to perform hajj

President Abdul Hamid on Wednesday morning arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform the holy hajj. “A regular flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the honorable President landed at King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah at 5:45 am (Saudi local time),” President’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim told UNB over phone.
At the airport, the President was received by deputy governor of Makkah Dr Eqab Al-Luwaihek, Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Shahidul Islam and Consul General of Bangladesh in Jeddah AKM Shahidul Karim.
Later, the President was taken in a royal motorcade to Makkah Guest Palace where the President will stay the night.
Abdul Hamid will perform umrah on Wednesday.
The President earlier left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by a regular flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at 2 am on Wednesday.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Agricultural Minister Matia Chowdhury, Dean of the diplomatic corps, principal secretary to the PM, the chiefs of the three services and high civil and military officials concerned were present at the airport to see the President off.
President Abdul Hamid is expected to return home on October 10 after performing the holy hajj.
