President for staying alert against students’ involvement in militancy

President Abdul Hamid on Monday asked the authorities of the country’s universities to remain alert so that students of their institutions do not involve in terrorist and militant activities. He also advised the authorities to expedite counseling activities to deter students from anti-social activities.
The President, also the chancellor of country’s all universities, gave the directives when Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University Professor Muhammad Mizanuddin and newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) Prof Dr Saiful Islam made separate courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here.
President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
During the meetings, President Hamid also asked the authorities to maintain quality of education so that students can compete in the international arena.
Prof Saiful Islam expressed gratitude to the President for appointing him BUET VC and sought his overall cooperation in discharging his duties.
The RU VC invited the President to chair the university’s upcoming convocation. Secretaries concerned to the President were present.
