President for quality education in varsities

President M Abdul Hamid asked university authorities to work more to ensure quality education in universities and ensure that a congenial atmosphere for academic, extra-curricular and research activities prevailed on the campuses.
The President came up with the directives on Tuesday when the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Cumilla University Dr Professor Dr Emran Kabir Chowdhury and Founder & Chairperson of BRAC University Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, separately, called on him at Bangabhaban here.
Later, the President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters about the meetings.
The head of state asked university authorities not to keep students confined to academic activities only and stressed on extra-curricular and research activities as well.
During the meeting with Cumilla University VC, President Hamid directed the university authority to ensure congenial academic atmosphere on the campus. He advised the authorities concerned to ensure the quality of education so that students could avail ‘world standard’ education. The President also gave priority to research activity in the universities. The Cumilla University VC apprised the President of overall activity, including academic ones, different development programmes and infrastructure development of the university. Prof Emran Kabir invited the President, also Chancellor of the university, to preside over the upcoming convocation of the university.
Earlier, during the meeting with the delegation of BRAC University led by its Trustee Board Founder and Chairperson Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, the university Chancellor directed all private universities to ensure quality education.
The President emphasized taking necessary steps so that the students can also take part in various extra-curricular activities. Concerned secretaries to the president were present.
