Preparations complete to celebrate Durga Puja in dists

Preparations for celebrating the largest religious festival of Hindu community -Durga Puja have been progressing in a hurry in Kurigram as the festival date is coming nearer. The four -day festival will begin on Oct. 1 with due religious fervour . The festival will be ended on Oct. 4 through celebration of Bijoya Dashami. Erection of idols of Goddess Durga is almost completed at several puja mandaps in all the nine nine upazilas of the district.
 The mandaps authorities have put maximum efforts and the idol-makers have been working round the clock for completing erection of the idols timely. According to the mandaps authorities, each artisan (idol makers) takes contact of making idols for three to four mandaps every year . A total of 475 puja mandaps will be created in nine upazilas including kurigram sadar. Among them 71 puja mandaps in Kurigram Sadar Upazila, 113 in Rajarhat Upazila, 102 in Ulipur Upazila, 20 in Chilmari Upazila , 65 in Nageswari Upazila , 17 in Vurunggamari Upazila, 66 in Fulbari Upazila, 7 in Roumari Upazila and 1 in Rajibpur Upazila this year. The power Development Board and Rural Electrification Board authorities have taken necessary steps to provide uninterrupted power supply to the puja mandaps to enable the Hindu devotees in offering prayers, archanas, puja and other rituals effortlessly.
Kulaura (Moulvibazar) Correspondent says: Artisans are now passing a busy time, making idols of goddesses in the Moulvibazar district as elsewhere across the country as Durga Puja nears.
Less than a month is left when the largest religious festival of Hindu community-Durga Puja-is going to start.
The festival fetched the sculptors a good scope to earn livelihood after passing a remarkable period of idle time round the year.
Most of such artistes usually witness a dull time and live in economic hardship despite the fact that they had the art of making idol of goddess cherished over generations with a great passion.
They get some works only ahead of large festivals like Durga Puja and Saraswati Puja. The number of orders for making idols is increasing gradually. Yet, it would be difficult for many to run families with what they would earn from their work.
Motilal Paul, Hari Narayan Paul, Radheshyam Paul and Banamali Paul came to the area and started making idols for different temples here some 50 years ago.
BSS from Gaibandha reports : Preparations to celebrate 4-day long Sharadiya Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, have been completed in the district as only two days are left to commence the annual event.
The 4-day long festival of the Hindu community will begin this year on September 30 with due respect and religious fervor and it will conclude on October 03 through the immersion of idols at different water bodies.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Puja Utjapon Parishad, district unit, principal Paresh Chandra Saha said a total of 566 puja mandaps would be erected in all the seven upazilas in the district this year.
Of the total, some 123 puja mandaps had been erected in Sundarganj upazila, 188 in Gobindaganj upazila, 99 in Sadar upazila, 100 in Sadullapur upazila, 62 in Palashbari upazila, 57 in Saghata upazila and 17 in Fulchhari upazila of the district.
After visiting different puja mandaps in the district town on Friday it was observed that the artists were giving last finishing touch on the images of deities to make the idols very attractive to the devotees and the visitors.
Tens of hundreds of Hindu Community people of all ages are rushing to the markets and purchasing puja clothes to celebrate their greatest religious festival from tomorrow with great enthusiasm.
BSS from Rangpur adds: All preparations have been completed to celebrate the greatest religious festival of Hindu community Durga Puja in all 58 upazilas under eight districts of Rangpur division with huge enthusiasm this year, official sources said.
According to the leaders of the local units of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad (BPUP) and concerned district administration sources, the five-day celebrations of the festival will begin on September 30 and conclude through immersion of the idols on the Bijoya Dashami on October 4 next.
