Preparations complete to celebrate Durga Puja in 1943 Mandaps

All preparations have been completed to celebrate Durga Puja, the largest festival of the Hindus, with festivity, safety and due religious fervour.
Police, district administration and leaders of Hindu community have completed all kinds of preparations and having regular discussions with each other, so that Durga Puja passes of peacefully.
A total of 1943 puja mandaps have been set up this year in Chittagong city and 14 upazilas of the district.
The Sharadiya Durga Puja begins from tomorrow with Sosti Puja and will end on October 23.
Sources said there are over 100 more puja podiums in the city and district this year compared to that in last year.
Besides full-proof security arrangement, the government has allocated around 100 metric tons of rice for all puja mandaps in the city and district.
Chittagong Mohanagari Puja Udjapan Parishad (CKPUP) president Biddyalal Shill yesterday informed that they are quite satisfied with the assurance from the administration and arrangements from the government side particularly law and order.
The authorities deployed 29 platoons paramilitary Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the city and 14 upazilas of the district to ensure security for smooth celebration of Durga Puja.
“BGB will remain vigilant to check any violence and untoward incident until the end of Durga Puja,” sources added.
Besides, Chittagong Metropolitan and District police formed 260 teams with over 3500 police personnel to have vigilance over the puja mandaps.
Besides, 24 teams of RAB and other law enforcing agencies would be deployed to have vigilance on the mandaps.
