Preparations afoot to welcome Pahela Boishakh

All preparations have been completed to welcome the Pahela Boishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year-1422, with much enthusiasm and traditional festivities as elsewhere in the country.
The district administration and other social and cultural organisations have taken decision to chalk out elaborate programmes that include bringing out mongal shobhajatra in the morning, holding of Boishakhi Mela at Indepedence Square, discussion meeting and cultural function.
Tight security measures have been taken by the district administration to ensure law and order for peaceful celebration of Pahela Boishakh across the district.
Separate programmes have also been taken by all upazila aministrations,different socio-cultural organisations and educational institutions to celebrate the day.
BSS from Khulna adds: Police will take special security measures in the city so that people can celebrate Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla calendar, peacefully.
The decision was taken at a meeting on the law and order situation ahead of Bangla New year 1422, held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner office with Mostofa Kamal, deputy commissioner in the chair.
Additional Police Commissioner of City Special Branch Moniruzzaman Mithu who also attended the meeting said that the deputy commissioner requested the members of police to remain alert so that no unpleasant incident can take place during the Pahela Baishakh celebration.
He urged the officials concerned to ensure additional security arrangements in all Baishakhi programmes including fair, sports, cultural function cinema halls as well as other mass gathering places across the city on the day.
A total of 1500 Police will be deployed at 16 points, mobile team and plain cloth police will also patrol at all important places, he said.
Special force also will be deployed at City’s Shaheed Hadis Park, Circuit House Ground, Shantidham Baishakhi fair and all important points in the city, he added.
Meanwhile, Khulna district police will take additional security measures on the Pahela Baishakh, said Additional Police Super of Khulna Joydeb Chowdhury.
All Officers-in-Charge of nine Police Stations in Khulna have been asked to remain alert so that no untoward incident can take place during the Pahela Baishakh celebration, he said.
At least 850 additional police personnel will be deployed in all nine upazila and , mobile team will also patrol the important places he said adding that more police will be kept standby at nine police stations and police outposts.
Control rooms will be set up at both KMP and SP office for close monitoring of security measures.
