Preparations afoot to celebrate Pahela Baishakh

Preparations for ‘Choitro Sangkranti’ and ‘Pahela Boishakh’ with various colourful programmes and enthusiasm for bidding farewell to outgoing 1422 and welcoming Bangla New Year 1423 on April 13 and 14,2016 going on full swing in Barisal city.
Volunteers of Charukala Barisal working day and night to organise traditional ‘Mangol Shovajatra (procession of well being for all) ‘ from City College campus at 7:59 AM of the day .
Udichi Barisal unit also arranged ‘Mangol Shovajatra’ from Brojo Mohun Bidyaloy (B M School) ground at 8:10 AM on April 14 morning with ‘Rakhi Bandhan (friendship ties) ceremony.
Barisal University will conduct ‘Mangol Shovajatra’ at 7:00 am in main campus area.
Volunteers of the organisations, artists of arts and crafts passing busy times in makiing motifs of Bangali folk and daily life on occasion of Pahela Boishakh festivals.
Three-day long ‘Boishakh Utsov’ with ‘Boishakhi Mela’ (Bangla New Year’s fair) and cultural functions also arranged by Udichi at B M School ground from Pahela Boishakh.
Shabdaboli Group Theatre at Barisal central Shahid Minar, Chander Hut at Barisal T B Clinic field, Planet World Children Park at park premises and local businessmen at Hatkhola also arranged Choitra Sangkranti Utsav, Boishakhi Mela, and cultural programme in the city from April 13-15.

at their office premises to bid farewell and welcome Bangla year from April 13 evening to April 14 early hours. Under the programs for bidding farewell and welcoming Bangla new-year local businessmen clearing their enterprises to observe ‘Halkhata Utsov’ on April 14 welcoming customers with sweet meats.
Local administration and law enforcing agencies arranged special measures for safety and security of the people, functions and fair grounds of Pahela Boishakh and related programmes, said Dr. Gazi Md. Saifuzzaman.
Ensuring undisrupted power supply at night, deploying mobile patrol teams with uniform and plain cloth, check posts at sensitive and key points and continuous vigilance against pick-pocketers and eve teasers, said Luthfar Rahman Mandal, Metropolitan Police Commissioner of Barisal. Said.
BSS from Rangpur reports: Massive preparations are being taken to celebrate ‘Pahela Baishakh’, the Bengali New Year-1423, amid huge enthusiasm, fanfare and traditional festivities on April 14 next everywhere in Rangpur division.
The law and order enforcement agencies have been taking special security measures for peaceful ‘Baishakhi’ celebrations with traditional culture, pride, glory and rich ancestral heritage of the Bangalees in line with the spirit of Great War of Liberation.
According to official sources, the district administrations, government, non-government, sociocultural, professional, business and other organisations, educational institutions, have been chalking out massive programmes to welcome ‘Pahela Baishakh’.
Tens of hundreds of children, adolescents, youths, men, women and activists of different organisations, wearing traditional dresses, will bring out ‘Pravat Ferry’ in the cities, district and upazila towns after sunrise to welcome the Bengali New Year 1423.
‘Baishakhi’ processions will be brought out carrying placards, banners, festoons, wearing masks and singing Boishakhi songs, ‘Bhaoyaiya’, ‘Palli Geeti’, ‘Jarigan’, ‘Bhatiali’, ‘Baul’, ‘Lalon Geeti’, ‘Nazrul Geeti’ and ‘Rabindra Sangeet’, folk and classical songs.
Traders in the hats, bazaars, groceries, sales centers and important places in both rural and urban areas have already started taking preparations to organise traditional ‘Halkhata’ and distribute sweets among their customers for renewal of their old accounts.
BSS from Faidpur adds: A preparatory meeting to observe the upcoming Bengali new year (Pahela Baishakah) on April 14 was held yesterday at the conference room of DC, Faridpur.
The meeting chaired by ADC(Gen) ANM Abdus Sabur was attended by officials, heads of the educational institutions, elite, NGo activists and cultural personalities.
At the very sun rise moment a cultural function welcoming the Bengali new year will be held at ‘Shwadhinata Chattar’ organized by Faridpur Shahittya and Sanskrity Unnayan Sangstha(FSASUS) where LGRD & Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain will be the chief guest.
A ‘Mongol Shovajatra’ organized by district administration will be brought out in the town participated by people of all walks of life to welcome the Bengali new year on the first day of Baishakh popularly known as Pahela Baishakh.
At local Ambica Memorial ground a cultural function and entertainment with fruits and sweets will be held after the Mongol Shovajatra arranged by district administration.
Apart from the functions organized separately by various organizations the district administration will also sponsor other functions initiated by other cultural and educational organizations particularly a fortnight long Baishakhi fair by Faridpur Shahittya Sanskriti Unnayan Sangstha to be held at the court compound April 14.

Various functions and cultural shows organized by Faridpur Shishu academy will be held on April 13 at the DC office premises.

A number of sub-committees were formed to observe the great event of Bangalees consisting of all sects and religious beliefs in a jubilant and gaiety mood.
