UNB, Dhaka :
BNP spokesman Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday said they are preparing for a movement and a fresh election alongside reorganising their party.
“The current regime has grabbed power by force instead of getting elected with people’s votes. We’ll intensify our movement involving people in it after Eid. Three tasks-preparation for movement and election, and recasting party – are going on simultaneously,” he said.
Fakhrul, the BNP acting secretary general, was talking to reporters while visiting injured BNP chairperson’s media wing member Shamsuddin Didar at Mirpur Dental Hospital.
Didar received severe injuries in a road accident
on June 30 while he was returning to his home after attending an Iftar party hosted by BNP chief Khaleda Zia for orphans and Alem-Ulema at the city’ Ladies’ Club.
Fakhrul came down hard on the ministers for their remarks that they will stay in office for five years and will take stern action if BNP tries to wage a violent movement, saying the cabinet members are speaking like children.
“No one of the ministers was elected with people’s votes. The country’ s people now demand their resignation … Awami League has deprived people of their voting rights through holding a farcical election on January 5,” the BNP spokesman observed.
He said, their party men continued their movement braving repressive acts and police firing. “Many people have already sacrificed their lives. People’s movement against the misrule of this regime is going on. We’re taking all-out preparations for intensifying it further after Eid.”
Fakhrul spent some time with Didar and enquired about his health condition from physicians.
