Preparation afoot to observe Independence Day

The concerned authorities have completed all necessary preparations to observe the Independence and National Day-2015 here on Thursday next (March 26) befittingly with huge enthusiasm and festivity.
The observance will begin through heralding 31 gun salutes at Rangpur Police Lines ground and placing of wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar, Swadhinota Smriti Stambha `Arjan’ and monuments of martyred freedom fighters at zero hours on the day.

Commissioner Farid Ahammad, Police Super Abdur Razzaque will place wreaths there at the zero hours.
Leaders of Awami League, Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Jatiya Party, BNP, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Gano Forum, Ganotantry Party, Swechchasebak League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, Sramik League, Workers Party, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal, Communist Party of Bangladesh and other political leaders will also place wreaths.
The day-long programmes also include hoisting of the national flag atop government, semi-government, private and public buildings, educational institutions, receptions to the freedom fighters and family members of the martyred freedom fighters. Colourful rallies, march past of freedom fighters, police, Ansar-VDP, scouts, girls in scout, fire service and civil defense personnel, jail guards, BNCC, students, children and screening of documentary films at cinema halls and open places will be organised.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Rajshahi City Corporation and district administration together with various political, social and cultural organizations and educational institutions including Rajshahi University chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the Independence and National Day 2015 here tomorrow with much enthusiasm and patriotic zeal.
The day’s programmes will begin with heralding of 31 gun salutes at Police Line and placing of floral wreaths at the altar of the city’s Shaheed Miners at the zero hours.
The programmes are also included hoisting of national flag atop all government, semi-government, private and public buildings, institutions, reception to the FFs and screening of documentary films at different cinema halls and other open places. A combined march-past of the police, ansar-VDP, fire service, BNCC, scouts, girl guides, jail guards and students of different educational institutions will be held at district stadium in the morning. Divisional Commissioner will hoist the national flag and witness the march-past and physical display.
In the noon, the valiant freedom fighters will be accorded reception at Green Plaza of Nagar Bhaban. Sports and discussion will be organized for the women on Riverview Collectorate School ground in the afternoon.
At the district Shishu Academy, competition on arts, patriotic songs and poetry recitation has been arranged for the school and college students.
Improved diets will be served among the inmates of hospitals, prison, safe homes, orphans and SOS.
Special prayers will be arranged at the city’s mosques after zohr prayers and different other worships seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the nation.
In the afternoon, friendly football matches between different teams will be held at district stadium marking the day.
Besides, the entire city’s important visiting spots and places like Rajshahi University Smrity Sangrahashala, Varendra Research Museum, Central Zoo and Shishu Park will remain open for the visitors throughout the day.
