Haider sets up emphatic win for Gazi Group Cricketers

A fierce bowling display by Abu Haider enabled Gazi Group Cricketers to record an overwhelming seven-wicket victory Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity in the rain hit curtail over match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Monday at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium.
Chasing a winning target of 176 runs set by Khelaghar, Gazi Group hardly had to sweat as they comfortably reached home in 36.1 overs with seven wickets in hand.
Opener Anamul top scored for Gazi with 67 runs and shared 86-run partnership with Suhrawardy Shuvo (58 n.o) for the third wicket stand to take his team closer to the victory.
Shuvo then completed the formality to seal the victory for Gazi along with Parvez Rasool (42 n.o) contributing an unbeaten 68 runs fourth wicket stand.
Tanvir Islam was the most successful bowler as he grabbed three Gazi’s wicket conceding 31 runs.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Khelaghar scored a decent total of 175 for 7 from their reduced 43 overs.
Middle order batsman Amit Mujumder top scored with 49 runs followed by Robiul Islam Robi (41) and Rafsan Al Mahmud (28). Apart from Haider’s four wickets for 35 runs, Parvez Rasool bagged two wickets giving away 34 runs.
Abu Haider of Gazi Group was named the player of the match.

Ashraful, Mehrab secure victory for Kalabagan

A match-winning 81-run knock by Mohammad Ashraful enabled Kalabagan Krira Chakra to earn an emphatic seven-wicket victory over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the rain-hit curtail over of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Monday at BKSP ground no-4 in Savar.
The former national skipper of Bangladesh team Ashraful hit six boundaries and two over boundaries during his 87-ball stay on the crease and took his team at home along with nine balls remaining.
He also shared an unbeaten 111-run fourth wicket partnership along with Mehrab Hossain Jr. (43 .n.o) for the fourth wicket to seal his team’s comfortable victory, after the two Kalabagan’s openers Tasamul Haque (48) and Jasimuddin (29) paved the way putting 62-run for the opening stand.
Tanbir Haider and M Shakil took one wicket apiece for Sheikh Jamal.
Earlier, opted to bat first after winning the toss, Sheikh Jamal scored a decent total of 213 for 9 from reduced 45 overs due to unplayable condition of the ground following rain in the morning.
Sheikh Jamal batting line-up saw numbers of good start but no big scorers.
Abaul Hasan was the pick of Kalabagan’s bowler as he claimed three wickets conceding 50 runs. He was well supported by Sad Nasim and Muktar Ali who both took two wickets each for 30 and 48 runs respectively.
M Ashraful of Kalabagan was named the player of the match.
